My Most Epic Failure
We’ve all heard the prompt, “What would you do if you knew you could not fail?”
The answer, for most of us, is typically a resounding Anything!!
And yet, we don’t. We don’t do the things that we so deeply want to do.
Why?
Because we might fail.
And what would we make that mean about us?
That we’re a failure, of course. And that’s a pretty crummy outcome. So that leaves us spinning around in a web of our unpursued dreams, stuck in a conversation of, “I would, but…,” destined for a whole bunch of complacency and frustration.
I have good news, and I have bad news. They are the same. Ready?
There is another place to come from. It might result in your bringing your wildest dreams into fruition. And, it might result in epic, life-altering failure. It’s hard to predict which.
What is worth it enough to you that you’re willing to risk failure to pursue anyway?
Seriously: what’s the thing?
I’ll start:
I quit my job as a mental health therapist four years ago to do the wacky, unlikely-to-make-a-living-at thing I really wanted to do: teach yoga full time. As a result, I get to joyfully support people in feeling their best in their bodies and lives every.single.day.
Was it worth it? HELL YES.
And then, there was that time that I completely uprooted my entire status quo to boldly pursue a highly improbable, magnetic, life-altering relationship. I got to dive into passion, transformation, falling apart and putting myself back together, and about a million other wild and ridiculous and amazing things.
The relationship failed. Epically. Does that make me “a failure?” I say no. Was it worth it? 100% Yes.
Because life is short, and possibility is huge, I invite you to ask yourself:
What’s so deeply worth it to you that you’re willing to risk failure to pursue? The thing that you know, deep down in your bones, that you MUST pursue?
If it makes you feel shaky and weird and question everything that you think about everything, it’s a sure bet that THAT’S THE THING.
Once you decide that the risk of failure is absolutely worth joyfully running straight toward it, please reach out. I will run right beside you and cheer you on, all the way to the finish line.
