7 Life Lessons I Learned from Pole Dance Class
A few months ago, on a whim, I signed up for a beginner’s pole dance class here in Charlotte, NC. I had no expectations, just curiosity. I left that first session sweaty, slightly surprised, and already wanting more. What started as a one-off quickly turned into a few classes a week… and now? I’m fully hooked.
I could easily go on about spins, climbs, and the thrill of finally nailing a move—but what’s kept me coming back isn’t just the workout. It’s the mindset. The lessons I’ve been learning in the studio have a funny way of showing up everywhere else, and those are the most impactful ones I want to share with you.
1. Learning and exploration are a lifelong pursuit.
2. Goals can be fun. And if they’re not, what’s the point?
3. When you show up as your authentic self, everyone benefits.
4. You were made to do hard things.
5. Confidence can be the result of doing things we think we have to wait for the confidence to do.
6. You have a right to be visible, take up space, and be fully expressed.
7. “Because I want to” is a whole reason to do anything. Period.
